Who are Angels?

Angels are supernatural beings, thousand and thousands of them (Rev. 5:11) were created by God before He created man. Angels appear many times in the Old and New Testaments. Jesus said they do not marry; they also never die (Luke 20:34-36). But they are not to be worshiped (Col. 2:18). What do angles do? They worship God (Heb. 1:6). They also serve as His messengers. For example, angles told Abraham that Sarah would have a son

(Gen. 18:1-19:1).

Angels guide God's people. An angel told Philip to go to a certain road where he meant an Ethiopian official (Acts 8:26). An angel opened prison doors for the disciples (Act 5:19). Sometimes an angle brings encouragement to people who need it, as one for Paul on a boat about to be shipwrecked (Acts 27:23, 24). Angels protect God's people in many...

circumstances (Ps. 91-11, Heb. 1:14). Angels had a special ministry in the life of Christ. They announced His birth to many, Joseph, and the shepherds (Matt. 1:20-24; 2:13-15, Luke 1:26-38; 2:8-15). Angels helped Christ after His temptation (Matt. 4:11) they strengthened Him before the crucifixion (Luke 22:43); they rolled the stone away form His tomb (Matt. 28:2-7), and they were with Him at His ascension (Acts 1:11). Apparently some angels, before the creation of man, decide no to serve God and "fell." See II Peter 2:4; Jude 6. What has happened and will happen to them? Evil angles are to be sent to eternal fire (Matt. 25:42), while good angels will go on serving God throughout eternity
